So I've started a few things to keep myself busy. I won't lie, I was very worried about becoming bored. I've been working since I could drive and have never been without a job. So this is quite an adjustment for me. The first week I was here thank you notes from the wedding kept me really busy. Since then I have been working on a few design projects that I brought with me from Houston. Hopefully I will be able to keep freelancing. I have also started yoga and pilates classes as well as a boot camp. Oh my goodness! I didn't realize how out of shape I was! The only time I have exercised since high school was in college when Nikki would drag me to the gym. This past Tuesday was my first day at boot camp and I'm still dying. My legs feel like they're on fire!
Ryan and I have made a few road trips. We drove to Nashville the second weekend I was here, to visit my mom and brother. They were in town for Trey's orientation at Belmont. On the Fourth of July we drove to Churchill Downs and did some light betting on the horse races. It was my first time at the horse races and I did not have beginners luck. I think I'll stick to black jack.
I've spent some time reading and at the pool and some VERY light shopping (mostly window shopping). I learned quickly I brought too much to Indy and will not be able to bring everything I brought here to our next location. So before I left for Indy I got rid of/donated about 50% of my clothes and put everything else in storage. And it still cost a fortune to get everything up here that I had planned to travel with from here on out. I had 2 large rolling suitcases, 3 med/sm duffles and 2 carry-ons. Ryan about fell over we he saw me. Needless to say I have big plans to go through everything again before we leave country. I definitely don't want to travel with that much stuff. It's hard to believe the amount of just "stuff" we have accumulated over the years. And that's not even including the wedding presents, those went immediately into storage. Not to mention our storage facility is also completely full after purging 40-50% of our things that we don't use anymore or was old or didn't think we would use again in several years. I'm hoping this experience over the next several years will teach me to live with what I need. And our new rule is if we think we need to buy something then we get rid of something.
Next week I start my photography classes and I can't wait! Keep tuned for my pictures :)
